If you have an interest in gardens, gardening and history, you will be amongst friends! We hope that you will find our meetings and talks interesting and engaging and we always welcome new members.
Please note that due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, all planned talks and visits for 2020 have been cancelled or postponed until 2021. HOWEVER, we are delighted to inform you that we are now starting to arrange talks via Zoom, and our third one is scheduled for:
FRIDAY 18th DECEMBER at 19:30 (this is also our Christmas Special event, so don’t miss it!)
Margie Hoffnung on the subject of “Garden Visiting, a very British Tradition”
A light-hearted look at the many aspects of gardens through the ages which might tempt people to visit them : taking in everything from classic English parklands by Capability Brown and Repton, to herbaceous borders, cottage gardens, gnomes, snowdrop lunches, hermits, giant veg, flower shows, or even lawn mower racing. Something for everyone whether your interest lies in garden history or plants.
If you are not already a member of DHGT and would like to join the meeting please contact either Elizabeth Walker or Caroline Pollard (details on Contact Us page). All are welcome!
DHGT members who are able to participate will be sent a link to join, closer to the date.
Usual venue (pre-Covid restrictions): The Strutt Centre, Derby Road, Belper, Derbyshire DE56 1UU. They are usually held on Friday evenings at 7.30 pm.
There is plenty of parking at the venue which is close to the centre of Belper. Details of the meeting room number are usually listed on a board inside the main entrance, and we try to book a downstairs room whenever possible to aid accessibility for guests with mobility issues. Meetings start at 7.30pm (except AGM which starts earlier).
